2007 Song Dedication Letter

Peace Be On You Remember we are one. Peace be on you, Brothers and Sisters, peace be on you. We all drink from one water. We all breathe from one air. We all rise up from one ocean. We all live under one sky. All newborn babies cry the same, the laughter of children is universal, everyone’s blood is red and our hearts beat out the same song. We’re all brothers and sisters. One family on one earth. Together we all live here. Together we will die. Remember we are one. Peace be on you, Brothers and Sister, peace be on you.

Praying I am prayin’ with my tongue. I am prayin’ with my hands. I am prayin’ with my feet. I am prayin’ with my heart. I am prayin’ with my soul. I am prayin’ with my weavings. I am prayin’ with my every intent. I am prayin’ with my dreams.

Mi HaIsh (Who Is the One?) performed in Hebrew Who is the one that desires life and loves days, that they may see the good therein? Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking guile. Depart from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.

Nigra Sum (I Am Black) performed in Latin I am black but beautiful, daughters of Jerusalem. Therefore, I have pleased the King and he has brought me into his chamber and said to me: arise my love and come. For now the winter is past, the rain is over and gone. The flowers have appeared in our land and the time of pruning is come.

Gate, Gate Performed in Sanskrit and English Gone, gone, gone all the way over, everyone gone to the other shore, enlightenment, joy! Yonder, yonder cross the river, everyone gone now, hallelujah! Everybody laughing, everybody singing, everybody gone now, hallelujah! No more tears, no more suffering, no more fears as we cross into the light!

The Ten Thousand Things The ten thousand things rise and fall, while the self watches their return. They grow and flourish, then return to the Source.

Mother A Lakota Sioux prayer to the Mother Earth. There is no translation.

Babethandaza (They Were Praying) Performed in Zulu and Xhosa We are like this because of prayer. Even our mothers/ancestors used to pray, they were praying.

Cradle Me In the morning when I rise, wipe the night-time from my eyes, plant my feet down on the floor, move myself through daily chores. Giving thanks while breaking bread and for kind words that are said, Spirit, move me through my deeds, cradling me with all my needs. Cradle me, cradle me, oh dear Mother, cradle me. Earth and breath and sky and sea, all rise up to cradle me. When death knocks on my front door, taking a loved one to her shore, and I bend to grief's old ways, I am cradled in my haze. And those tears are oft' relieved by giving back what I received; stretching out with arms and heart, cradling them that death did part. Circling through this walk on earth, tears for death and tears for birth; blessings quilted with the pain, all are woven with the grain. Plant my feet down on the floor, move myself through daily chores; giving back what I received, simple gifts are sacred deeds.

Ma’oz Tsur (Rock of Ages) Performed in Hebrew Rock of Ages, let our song praise your saving power. You, amidst the raging foes, were our sheltering tower. Furious, they assailed us; but your arm availed us. And your word broke their sword when our own strength failed us.

Sioux Prayer O, our Father the sky, hear us and make us strong. O, our Mother the earth, hear us and give us support. O, Spirit of the East, send us your wisdom, O, Spirit of the South, may we tread your path of life. O, Spirit of the West, may we always be ready for the long journey. O, Spirit of the North purify us with your cleansing winds.

Cum ba Yah (Come by here) Someone’s singing, Lord, cum ba yah. Someone needs you, Lord, cum ba yah.

These Are the Names of the Goddess Persephone returns in Spring, Cybele floats on angels wings; Flora tends her garden plants, we’re all part of her sacred dance. These are the names of the Goddess, from her womb all life was born. These are the names of the Goddess, to her path our hearts are sworn. The burning sun is Amaterasu, Knossos is the one who knows you; Pele rises up to lead us, as freedom fighters the world will need us. Yemaya cools us in her waters, Mary prays for us her daughters; Demeter brings the harvest in, Artemis gives us protection. Gaia calls us to the Ancient Ones, Changing Woman guides us on; Hecate greets us when we are done, the cycle has once more begun.

Everything She Touches She is the Woman who weaves the night sky, Watch Her go see Her fingers fly! She is the Weaver and we are the web; She is the Needle and we are the thread. Watch Her go see Her fingers fly! She changes everything She touches and everything She touches changes. A Gaelic Blessing Deep peace of the running wave to you, deep peace of the flowing air to you. Deep peace of the quiet earth to you, deep peace of the shining stars to you. Deep peace of the gentle night to you, moon and stars pour their healing light on you. Deep peace of Christ to you.

Amazing Grace Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a soul like me. I once was lost, but now am found, was blind, but now I see. ‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear and grace my fears relieved, how precious did that grace appear the hour I first believed. Through many dangers, toils and snares, we have already come. ‘Twas grace that brought us safe thus far and grace will lead us home.
